This project is made by a bunch of students of the Wrocław University of Technology and its a non commercial project. They use bulbs from Phillips and micro-controllers to make all this thing work

Evoluce, the manufacturers of that huge 47-inch full HD touchscreen are getting crazy!! They’ve decided that unlimited simultaneous touch inputs was not enough, so they’ve gone an’ added gesture support up to half a meter from the device. Apparently this bad boy supports Windows 7, although if you want your interface you can create your own. It supports flash,Java, c++ etc. Interested? Check out this video

Intel Corp. and Microsoft recently announced the availability of an embedded technology platform developed specifically for digital signage applications that includes Intel chips and Microsoft Windows software. The announcement was made last week during a keynote at the Digital Signage Strategies Forum in London.

“This is the first and currently only platform in the digital signage industry to offer remote manageability with a validated operating system,” said Jose Avalos. director of digital signage for Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel Corp.’s Embedded and Communications Group. “The Intel Core processor-based system with Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7 will enable solution providers to build more reliable digital signage networks, faster.”

“We’re excited to make the latest Windows Embedded Standard 7 technology for digital signage available to developers. The new optimized platform from Microsoft and Intel provides digital signage manufacturers and network operators the flexibility to define and rapidly create innovative applications that deliver richer and more engaging experiences for consumers in a variety of environments, including retail stores, hotels, banks, airports and more,” added Lorraine Bardeen, regional marketing director for EMEA, Windows Embedded Business, Microsoft.

Companies endorsing the Intel and Microsoft platform for next-generation digital signage development include AOpen, C-nario, Digital Panorama, DT Research, Harris Corp., HP, Micro Industries, NCR Netkey, NEC and YCD Multimedia.

According to the companies, Harris support for the Intel and Microsoft digital signage platform includes its InfoCaster Player content playout software, which features advanced content management, as well as content synchronization and delivery from multiple sources to thousands of remote displays over a widespread network.

The strategic relationship between Intel and Microsoft for the digital signage platform was first discussed publicly at the 2010 National Retail Federation Convention in New York, where the technology was showcased in an interactive digital signage proof-of-concept. The nearly 8-foot-tall interactive LCD and holograph glass touch screen features anonymous video analytics, which would enable advertisers to target content to maximize the impact on viewers. The platform also includes Intel vPro Technology with Intel Active Management Technology, allowing administrators to manage the digital signs remotely even when powered down, which reduces operational costs and increases energy savings, according to Intel.

Media agency Edvertise has used large LED displays located in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands to highlight the issues surrounding public apathy to violence against paramedics and other public service employees. A powerful piece of augmented reality drops passers-by into a seemingly live video of an attack as they simply stand and stare.

The billboard has been equipped with a video camera, which films members of the public on the opposite side of the street. Then the video is layered with some footage of an assault on an ambulance crew, pre-recorded on a blue screen in a studio. The result is that viewers of the signage are placed unwittingly into a situation and asked by the messaging to react more appropriately. Disturbing and genuinely powerful stuff.
